E-Krete is a Portland cement based Polymer Composite Micro-Overlay (PCMO) that preserves road surfaces in a far superior manner than other alternatives. Some of E-Krete’s characteristics that make it stand out as the superior preservation solution are:

  • Life expectancy of 20 years plus…
  • 3 year unconditional warranty
  • Costs less than a 1½” asphalt overlay
  • Provides a long lasting friction and wearing course micro-overlay that can restore old pavements to new friction standards
  • Perfect for sealing slick, dried-out and eroding surfaces
  • EPA approved and 100% environmentally safe - eliminates the need for toxic, petroleum
  • Available in all primary colors – great for marking school zones and caution areas
  • Available in a special solar reflective gray color gray which reduces surface temperature helping to prevent rutting and reduces cities’ urban heat islands
  • At 1/8” thickness, it takes care of the problem and expense of milling out existing overlays as well as providing a lighter option for repairing bridges and overpasses
  • Cures for traffic in 30 minutes in warm temperatures

E-Krete fills cracks in road surface upon application.

E-Krete (colored black) withstands U.S. Corp of Army Engineers durability test.
Asphalt's two biggest enemies are degradation from U.V. rays and rainwater.  In 1996, Jack Wilson, Sr. developed E-Krete with the realization that there was a need for a durable overlay that would adhere to asphalt and provide a protective layer creating surface integrity.  E-Krete is an environmentally green, concrete-based polymer overlay that not only bonds to asphalt, but will also adhere to concrete and metal. It is unaffected by UV, water, ice, oxidation, automotive fluids, aircraft fluids, oil, diesel and gasoline.

After twelve years of testing and experience with this Polymer Composite Micro-Overlay (PCMO) on surfaces such as interstates, secondary roads, parking lots, offshore helidecks, oil rigs, and regional and military airports, E-Krete stands alone as the only cementitious pavement preservation material approved by the FAA, EPA, and the Army Corp of Engineers.  In the Southeastern U.S., E-Krete has already been approved by DOT’s in Florida, Louisiana and North Carolina and is currently in the approval process in several state DOT’s including Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.

E-Krete can be applied to meet any friction coefficient required.  It also comes in many colors including a solar reflective gray that reduces surface temperature by at least 12 degrees Fahrenheit helping to mitigate urban heat islands. As the manufacturer of E-Krete in the Southeastern U.S., we are confident to provide a three year warranty which covers peeling and delamination from the surface to which it is applied.

Rising oil prices position E-Krete as being about half the price of a 2” asphalt overlay.  E-Krete provides a clean, quiet riding, skid resistant surface that arrests the deterioration of asphalt pavement. It is no wonder that E-Krete is considered to be a product whose time has come.

These 10 years old core samples show the difference E-Krete makes on the asphalt it seals.  The sample on the left is road without E-Krete whose oils and surface have roded.  The sample on the right is with E-Krete and it has retained its oils and maintained a better surface.
